RIT Juggle-In (Upstate NY)

Being that I’m one of the people in charge of this, I’ve got to take a
moment to advertise: the RIT 25th Annual Spring Juggle-In.

Yes, a juggling convention, but there will be at the least, a unicycling
workshop (taught by me), and a game of unicycle hockey. So, if you’re
anywhere near Rochester, take the trip. http://www.rit.edu/~jugwww

The details: first, the disapointing part, unicycles are not allowed in the
main gym where all the juggling will be taking place. But, we’ve got a
room behind the gym where they can be used. Now, to anyone who juggles,
this is going to be a truly amazing convention.

For starters, this is our 25th year. Jason Garfield will be performing!
We will be having the usual sort of workshops and competitions most
conventions have. We will also be having an official ISJF (international
sport juggling federation) numbers competition (I don’t know all the
details of the ISJF, but from what Albert Lucas told us, there is some
amazing potential to get juggling recognized by the media, and is quite
hopeful it will lead towards becoming an olympic event by 2008.)

of juggling, we expect at least 500 people to show up. Lots of workshops,
vendors, competitions, and fun stuff. And did I mention Jason Garfield?!
(For you non-jugglers there, Garfield is easily one of the top 5 technical
jugglers in the world today.)

With the exception of the shows, all events are free. The Garfield show is
$10, the Sunday show, feating Two and the Jakester is $5.

Are there any equipment restrictions for the RIT unicycle hockey (can I use my 24” pos, or do I need a 20” wheel, does the tire need to be non-marking, etc)?

This leads to a question I’ve had about unicycle basketball. I’m getting
increasingly annoyed at one member of our group, because he’s a better
unicyclist than me, and he also uses a 28" wheel unicycle, so no one else
can keep up with him. For basketball and hockey, do most groups limit
it to 20" or 24" wheels, or is it anything goes?

In our club, at least until now, it’s anything goes, although I don’t
think anyone (with us) actually rides larger than 24" in these games.
