RIP Flat Stanley

Flat Stanley, my hermit crab of thirteen days, was found lying stiff and cold in his tank at roughly 18.00 hours this evening.

If anyone has any details please pm me.

I am devestated, i just buried him in a panadol box in amongst the ferns.

My worst fear is that he died from neglect and that i am to blame, a ghost hermit crab with ‘unfinished buisiness’ could prove to be quite a hand full.

I am deeply sorry for your loss…but a ghost hermit crab would be kinda interesting. For a few minutes I guess, then it would just be bothersome.

Don’t blame yourself. Hermit crabs are pretty unpredictable in the live or die sense. My son has had three of them. One died pretty quickly, like yours, and he blamed himself. His second one, with no different care or conditions, lived for a year. His third–again same conditions–is going on a couple of years.

Even if it was neglect, that was two weeks of life in a warm house instead of a seagull’s mouth.

bothersom indeed.

i was stuck on the thought of whether it would take its shell with it in ghost form or not?

and thankyou Tom, that gives me a glint of hope for my other one who is ‘yet to be named’

I have had about 3 fish living in my room at different times. I named them all Fred. They all died. With some it wasn’t my fault but I know for a fact the last one was my fault. I kind of forgot about it for about a month. Apparently fish need to be fed more often than that. I don’t buy fish anymore.

lol, the fred fish.

yeah fish dont take to kindly to being placed in a bowl and left. Mine all die within at least a month. I still by them, but only to place in bodies of water that do not belong to me eg: drinkbottles and water features at nice resturants.
(keep that on the down low)

I had a fish once, it went missing for about 2 months which is kinda weird because it was in a fish tank. When I found it, it was wedged inside a shell. As you can guess it stunk a lot…

Perhaps like Jacob Marley, he would take his shell, instead of chains?

That is a very good idea. Reminds me of one prank, where you take a tampon and you drop it in a bottle of whatever, and it completely expands soaking up ALL the liquid in the bottle and it’s so big you can’t get it out.

I used to have some fishies as well, but they all kicked the bucket one after the other.
I also had a budgie, whom I found stone dead on the bottom of his cage. I buried him in a box of hand cream in some school-yard. That must have been the day my childhood ended. Or maybe not.

Have you tried putting a lightbulb in your mouth?

no

that sounds like the funniest idea i have ever heard!

Don’t ever try it. If you get the bulb of the right size and shape you’ll be able to put it in but won’t be able to get it out!

hahahahah that would be so so funny to watch!

LMAO

i had a fish once , it was in my room i fed it all the time then one day while i was at school my mom put it into the pond in the back garden. i never saw it again. partly because i video taped a heron eating him out of the pond lol oh well happy days. sorry about your crab

i think that may be solely because you watched a heron eat it, not partly

i am still mourning

I am a little upset at your cold heartedness, this thread was important to me.
