Rim problems

hi

I have a monty rim a tire on my trials machine and i buckeld it just a bit. But when i went to true it i found that the spokes are starting to pull through some of the holes and are cracking around the edges. I was wondering if this has happened to any one else and what rim did they get to replace it. any suggestions would be much apreciated. thanks.

Luke.

The Monty and Alex DX32 are the best trials rims you will find. Maybe you need to keep an eye on your rims more closely? Lack of matienance is what eats up most rims.

I’ve only had it for about six months so it souldn’t be giving up on me so soon. it could be that i have to much spoke tension on the spokes. so i have lernt my lesson. thanks for the reply.

Not a problem. I experienced a similiar problem back when I raced BMX, it’s just a lesson that we all learn at one point or another.

Monty rims (all the ones I’ve seen) have been drilled for 12 g spokes (i.e. extra big holes).

If the wheel was built with 14 g spokes then the spoke nipples may be too small, it should have eyelets, washers or at least 13 gauge spokes to stop the nipples pulling through.
