riding/jumping with seat in front

Hey all I have been practicing riding and jumping with my seat out in front and i cant tell if it is better to push down on the seat or lift up on it for stabilization. Is there one way that more people prefer to preform this feat?
Thanks for your help,
booger

I’d also like some insight on seat in front jumping if anyone would like to post up a mini-FAQ. I know I could search through the fora and find some posts, but it’s nice to hear new stuff and get newer users sparked on the interest of.

Fora…thanks. Gilby even made a link to the fora section.

for jumping, pushing down on the seat starts accelerating the center of
gravity upward and takes some of the burden off the legs…it also stablizes
the tire contact and this helps psychologically…so i press down, but of
course you have to lift up immediately after pushing down so the cycle can
follow…
