so i was going from savannah to NC today and i got pulled over for “improper lane change” (read: bullshirt). the cop pulled me out my car, wrote me a warning and walked his doggy round my car. the dog went NUTZ. you would’ve thought i was cooking meth in my underpants if you had heard this dog. so officer searches my car (because contrary to popular belief, they can do that if the dog barks) and finds my joint. so now i have to pay a $550 ticket, i may get my liscence suspended, i will lose my financial aid, and i have to find a place to live that isn’t “zero tolerance crime free housing.” i hate cops, no good will ever come from speaking with one. i hate american drug policy too. in what distant galaxy does it make sence to remove the funding of education to the poverty stricken who commit “victimless crimes.” anyways, the moral of the story is: if you have something in the car when you get pulled over, eat it. as long as you can destroy all the evidence, you can be stoned outta your gourd and you haven’t broken any laws.

no, i was bone sober. i had smoked like 4 hours before. the cop said i cut off a truck, but he was behind the truck he said i cut off, so i don’t know how he would have seen that. i think he saw me slow down before he tagged me with the radar and just needed a new reason to pull me over.
Haw Haw. Why is that the people who have bad attitudes about cops are the ones who supposedly get treated poorly by cops? I’ve had nothing but good experiences with the police. I hold no contempt towards them and they have alwasy been nice to me.
Perhaps they don’t want to pay for education because you’re not willing to take responsibility for your actions and try to blame otehr people when you get in trouble for something you know is illegal.
There are two issues here. The law and the cop.
The law is, unquestionably, wrong, and thus you weren’t wrong in having a joint.
The cop, however, was not wrong, and just doing his job. The only fault you could place on him would be if he profiled you by how you looked and pulled you over for that. However, it is his job to walk that dog around your car, and he would be a bad cop if he picked and chose whatever laws he wanted to enforce. That’s a slippery slope you don’t want to go down.
You should be mad at the douchebag lawmakers who make it a crime to have a single joint, mad at your housing, mad at tons of things, but not really mad at the cop.
Well, except that even if he took responsiblity they wouldn’t be paying for it anymore.
I have a few cop friends, but I also dislike a lot of cops. I’ve never smoked and didn’t drink until I was 23, but I was pulled over 2-3 times a month in highschool and had my car searched almost every time, and was accused of being high and a drug dealer several time. Once a cop found a little piece of dirt and claimed it was a seed and threatened to arrest me if I didn’t name names. These were, obviously, bad cops. They treated me like dirt simply because I had long hair and was out at night. I didn’t antagonize them or anything of that sort. In fact, I was a nice as possible in hopes that they’d start leaving me alone.
Now that I’m a bit older cops treat me much better and I have several friends who are cops. Go figure. Don’t always blame the victim. There is a such thing as a bad, kid hating cop. (however, in the above case the cop was just doing his job)

Something tells me if he pulled you over for a lane change, you needed pulling over because of your lane change.
Cops are valuable, and the ones that typically have issues with them are the ones out breaking the law. Bet you would like them just fine if you needed them and they were there for you.

If you think a law is poor, you have a right to try to change it, but you don’t have the right to break it on the grounds that you think it’s a bad law. But as long as a majority of the people trying to change the aw are criminals under the current law that’s never going to happen.
Not wnating ot listen to someone’s rant about how they were treated unfairly when they get what they have coming to them. Is not blaming hte victim. Because he is not innocent in this matter.

on another note, why would the police dog be walked around your car in the first place? is this a common practice for a seemingly normal traffic violation?
and this is out of complete curiousity: had you smoked in your car previously, or did the dog actually sniff out one joint immediately? where was the joint? how much did you crap your pants when the dog started barking?
wow. All I can say is Im glad that all police officers dont have dogs with them. Recently, Brandon and I were giving a friend a drive to another friends house. He had 6 grams on him. It was stinky weed ( you know how some just smells strongly, skunkly… it was that kind). The entire car smelled like weed. Brandon got pulled over for making a left turn in a no left turn lane. Silly boy. Anyway, we were all shitting ourselves because all we could smell was weed. Thankfully the officer took a long time to get from his parked car to ours. We all rolled down our windows and were chewing cinnimon gum to make the car smell better. Thankfully he didnt notice anything.

When you willingly put yourself in harm’s way by doing your job everyday, then I’ll let you bash cops. Just the other day on the news, a cop was killed by someone he had pulled over. The guy opened his door, turned around, and opened fire. When you get the guts to become one of these people.
Yes, there are bad cops, and there are bad laws, but there are far more good cops, and it’s their job to enforce the laws, whether the agree with them or not.
Put your life on the line multiple times everyday. Then see how you like it when criminals call you corrupt.
Theres a big difference between the cops who go into rough neighborhoods and try to keep assualts robberies etc down and put themselves into harms way and the ones who pull you over for little to no reason because they see you are young and fit their image of a smoker and then get the dog to sniff around. Contrary to what they say on commercials, smoking weed is a victimless crime and it usually does not fund terrorism.
Seager said it perfectly; the law is, of course, ridiculous, but the cop was only doing his job. From the way you told your story, it seemed like that cop was actually one of the few who follows procedures like he’s supposed to. Nothing wrong with that. Learn how to change lanes better. 
Most cops do multiple jobs, am I right? There aren’t just traffic cops, or other things like that, are there?
I’m not debating whether pot is ‘right’ or not. Either way, it’s illegal. If you break the law, don’t start whining when you get punished for it.
Ill agree with the cop bashing part. That they are really just doing their job so you shouldnt cop bash. But, the breaking the law part and not whinning when youre punished for it.
Some laws are ridiculous. I believe the pot laws are. Id say maybe have a age limit like drinking. But that aside, if it was illegal to blow your nose, but you nose was really runny, and you did and got caught you’re telling me you wouldnt complain?

Why not. I didn’t decide the laws. I am a deep believer that humans are inherently good, but things like laws, taxes, and property make them greedy, covetous and violent. Plus many laws are very dumb, like the whole “weed is illegal” thing.
I’ve been pulled over twice with more than enough os something to ruin my future(Never got a ticket). Knowing your rights and having the right attitude will save your ass from the pigs.
Watch this video! to learn your rights, and some useful stuff about what to do while encountering the cops. Memorize your rights too, cops try to intimidate people into allowing them to violate your rights, then you’re screwed.
I break the law all the time in many ways, I just know how to play the game and not get caught.
