reverse pedal grabbing

Today i went out and tried a couple of reverse pedal grabs. i found them to be very fun and challenging. I was having trouble keeping the pedal on the objest i was pedal grabbing. I would land the pedal then slowly lean over to the wrong side and end up simply falling off  .I have no trouble keeping my pedal on when grabbing my normal way. i was wondering if there is a technique to this, or it just requires getting used to? It is a really cool feeling when going to rubber because you must do a half wheel rotation in the air to go back to normal hopping position.

I guess Im not sure what’s reversed here, the foot position or the side?

the side… pedal grabbing the opposite side as you normally would

I tried this last night as some people outside recognised me from my bench-jumping antics. I only tried it once before going back to the normal way…

Jumping up was okay, but then balancing on the back pedal was hard… I usually lean forward onto the pedal; I did as I usually do, and promptly started falling forwards. It’ll take a lot of getting used to, jumping up on that side.

Phil, just me

Re: reverse pedal grabbing

I don’t quite understand the part about doing a half rotation in the air to go to rubber. Are you reversing your foot position as well as the side your hopping to? Although I haven’t tried very much, what made most sense to me was to stay in my normal hopping position. For me, that would mean landing on my right pedal, and than bring the left pedal forward. A normal pedal grab for me is to land on the left pedal and bring the right one back. That way, you land in your normal hopping position without trying to do half a rotation in the air.

Hey, are you Ryan for UNICON? I think we hung out and did trials on Bainbridge Island.

Anyway, thanks for your post. I’m really interested in working on this skill now.

reverse pedal grabbing

i thought you meant going from rubber to crank(downwards instead of upwards).i do this as a bonus trick multiplyer:) it also looks neat and shrinks the distance to the ground on a big drop.

yes that is what i was doing. i tried the other way but this way felt a lot cooler and i found them the same difficulty.

yes that’s me. how are you ben?? i’m hoping to go to many of the MUni weekends this years as well as NUC and some 24 hour races. hope to see you there  Oh! and i got a trials uni now… so that’s cool

Any tips on staying balanced on your foot (on the object?)?
