hey kids,
many of you may have noticed, iii am the new leader in rep points!!
but i feel bad about this.
for most of the things i get rep for, i feel that i really don’t deserve.
so here is my request.
you should only give good rep when you really feel its worth it…i have a few that say things like, nice avatar, or one time when i said that i got some neg rep, just in passing, someone gave me good rep for it…which i don’t think was deserved. and another time, i got rep that simply said, you have a lot of rep. well, duuuh, if you keep giving me rep!! gosh.
so yeah, don’t give me good rep anymore, unless you think i REALLY deserve it.

I think it was probably you who just gave me the negative rep that said:
that’s just asking for positive rep.
and that pretty much exactly what I didn’t want you to do…because it was rep points with NO purpose.
You should have posted this in the “respond to rep” thread…
And I would assume that whoever gave you that rep, and corresponding comment assumed that you posted this thread as a ruse to gain more positive rep. Therefore, the negative rep you had received was not pointless; it was given beacuse you posted this thread knowing you would get positive rep, by stating you didn’t want any (from this thread). This “false pretense” is the reason you got negative rep.

I will not make any kind of a statement on the kind of rep I will receive because of my participation in this thread.
i really don’t want positive rep actually, and i posted this thread hoping to not get any rep, and to let people know that giving rep for no reason is a misuse of the rep system.
i only get positive rep because i post a lot, which is completely stupid.
before me, john childs had the most rep points, and he totally deserves it more than me.
And whoever gave you that, clearly does not believe that premise.
Also, they probably assumed that due to their comparitivly meager amount of rep points, it wouldn’t really matter.
Additionally, I would think, that the person giving you those negative rep points thought it was pretty funny.
On top of that, I bet, whoever gave you that negative rep doesn’t really think the rep system matters at all, and would not think any less of you if you had less rep.

I think what we are seeing is rep inflation. now that people have enough rep to influence the rep of others, all of our reps will go up faster.
Don’t worry, James_Potter, I suspect in another couple months there will be many mega reppers like you! Enjoy the fame while it lasts.

i think you are partially right podzol, we are seeing a rep inflation, but due to this inflation there is a chance some people might stay at the bottom forever,
suppose someone that only gives bad rep gets there rep inflated before some other people,if they start giving out bad repto everyone then everyone stays at low rep, so i am worried i may neversee my rep higher then three of those little green boxes
