LOL, look what happened here. Sounds like some sort of “technical” offense.
I’m starting to think that the reputation system is more trouble than it’s worth. On the other hand, it was fun to get some really nice reputation feedback comments, but those comments could easily have been put in the thread itself.
But getting back to what happened to UNIquelyCanadian (and others), how freely should one give negative reputation? Personally, I would save it for the most egregious offenses only. But I would much more readily give positive reputation. Is it correct to be quick to compliment/thank/encourage/reward and slow to criticize? (in “real life”, I think the answer is yes) Or should it be balanced?
I guess if the reputation system works, it might help new members, but new members don’t stay new forever. They read and they learn who’s who. That’s what we do in life. Do we really need an automated system? I can form my own opinions, thank you very much. In real life, I try to base my opinions of people on first-hand experience only, not what other people say about the person.
(I’m not against the reputation system; I’m just having serious doubts about it.)
