hey guys. Normaly i buy my stuff from renegade. My CC is really worn out and and i dont like its side walls. I also want to get lighter trials cranks. I’m looking at a combo of
Bedford:
-125mm Kh moments
-Luna tire
Renegade Juggling
-Koxx one 140mm Lights
-Try all stiky
the prices with shipping (since I’m not driving into Toronto with the G20 there) are roughly the same. which way should i go???
thanks
-Jon
Well I think Tom at renegade is getting the new light try-all sticky tires or already has them and he says he will get them in white too. What do you plan on using the cranks for, flat or street?
As far as the tire goes, go Tryall. In my experience the Tryall’s been vastly superior, especially the sidewalls, and it’s only minimally heavier than the CC. If you want the light Tryall, you might be sacrificing the sidewalls somewhat, because the decrease in weight has to come from somewhere…I don’t know, though, having never ridden one. Oh, yeah, and if you live in Canada, it’s cheaper to buy the regular version at http://www.wherestheseat.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=47_51_58&products_id=188&zenid=0779e00bf5d0d24676ec59110433a3cd.
Toronto is like a ghost town right now. People seem to have left the city. I think there is an overcompensation for the G20 leaving the downtown pretty empty in most parts.
Bedford is way north of the G20 zones anyway. Don’t let it effect your decision to come here.
i said 125mm cranks from bedford because its what my friend has. he has 125 mm cranks ( not moments but still 125mm) and a luna tire and i like it. I also like the try all tire so im not sure which way to go,
It all depends on what you wanna buy. I’m not sure on the differences in tires, so I’ll leave that alone, but for cranks if you are more of a trials rider I’d go for the 140 mm cranks from renegade. If you ride more street/flat I’d pick up the 125 mm cranks from Bedford.
yes! i’ll get some 90mm k1 light cranks, that’ll save some weight…
I’d grab the K1 light cranks over the moments any day (in 140mm) but they are weaker (i’ve bent mine a little) but I can hardly tell other people feel it.
I hate the luna tyre, but not a big fan of the sticky. I’d grab a CC or Eagle Claw.
Get 125mm KH Moments with a Luna tire from Bedford. I’ve always used 125’s and they are soooooooo smooth (but I don’t have Moments). Luna tires take FOREVEER to wear out and I’ve only got 2 or 3 bald patches on my Luna although I don’t like the tread design, its weight and how impossible it is to take on and off without tire levers.
Luna doesn’t last forever, last summer I rode one, and it was almost slick at the end of the summer… But, it lasts way longer than any other tire. Right now, it’s my favorite tire (for Trials mostly), but I haven’t tried the MEC, if I can get one it’s going to be my next tire and then I’ll finaly have tried every tire (except Sticky finger) and I will know wich one is the best… IMO:p
The only reason I like the Luna more than the others is that it has really hard nubs, so if I do natural trials the nubs are most likely to not just fold and make me fail. Also, I ride at a pretty high pressure normally and I’ve found that the other tires (CC and Try-all) when they are at high pressure they dont grip as well as a lower pressure. I tried my friends Try-all and it gripped really well, but his tire pressure is way too low for me.
