Register soon for the NUM

Those of you in the Unicycling Society of America already know this, but if you
are thinking of going to the NUC in Bowling Green you will want to sign up
early, because they are charging serious late fees. The basic charge to
participate, but if you don’t sign up by June 1 you’ll pay and extra $20 (for a
total of $50), and if you don’t sign up by July 20, you’ll pay $30 extra (for a
total of $60).

That’s the stick, now the carrot. If you have never been to a NUC before, and
are wondering if you should go, you should. I was able to go for part of the NUM
at Adrian, MI two years ago, and it opened my eyes to all sorts of new aspects
of unicycling. I got to see people who are better than I’ll ever be, and I got
to see unicycling as graceful as championship ice skating. I also got to meet a
variety of nice people, including several on this list, and was inspired to
increase my skills.

When you get there, there will be lots of things to do. You can enter races of
various lengths and styles, with sprints, longer races, one foot, wheel walking,
backwards, obstacle course, and more. Don’t feel shy if you don’t feel you are
fast enough; there are lots of slow riders there and everyone is just having
fun. You can also get tested for your skill level if you are interested.

If you wish to enroll, you will need to join the USA, but you should belong
anyhow. The $15 annual fee is trivial and you’ll get your money’s worth. If you
wish to go, write to the USA at:
