Reflectives

Someone (Alan IIRC) commented at BMW on the effectiveness of the microprism
reflective stickers on the inside of my rims.

Well, I’ve just found the packet, while fishing out reflective stuff to
stick on Jenny’s trailer [1]. The stuff’s called Moonshine, and the last
pack I bought came with 51 stickers, each about 3cm x 1cm. I use 9 on each
wheel. ISTR it cost me about a fiver from the cycling section of Halfords.

The rest of the reflective tape on my unicycles came on rolls, from the
motoring section of Halfords.

[1] See http://www.speedy5.freeserve.co.uk/jenny/ for pictures of Jenny’s
first ride in her trailer.

I’ve got to find out where Danny shops. Why wasn’t this photo in the “Faces” album?

it could end up in the faces gallery some how (hint hint)

Feel free to add it. I can’t be bothered (I was actually thinking more of
posting my South Park self portrait
<http://www.speedy5.freeserve.co.uk/danny/pictures/spdanny.jpg>.

The shirt came from the Bahamas when my parents went there 12 years ago.

The grass skirt was lovingly made by my wife (the photo was taken at a
convention with a Hawaiian theme).

The trainers are unfortunate. I forgot my sandals :frowning:

Re: Reflectives

If you’re looking for something cool to put on your uni for safer night riding, check out TireFlys.com. I picked up a pair of these at Wal-Mart for 5 greenies. They’re really nifty and they get peoples attention. They attach to the valve stem and are motion activated. I have the blue ones and they are BRIGHT!

I believe Sarah picked up some of those when she was over there for Unicon.

I’ll have to see if my local Asda can be persuaded to stock them, since
they’re owned by Wal-Mart.

Though of course the blue ones would be illegal in the UK (blue lights can
only be displayed on emergency vehicles). Green might be a bit dodgy too,
since green lights are reserved for doctors on call.

HUM, I brought a pair of those back from Uniocn as a souvenoiur, and
already neither of them work, and one has fallen apart and is lost
forever. They don’t stand up to muni riding. Looked pretty in the shop but
have been useless ever since.

I don’t have any special reflective stuff on my uni. But it is chrome plated, so I guess that helps. I should look into getting something reflective/bright/distracting for my uni.
