I just got my new miyata CF base and reeder and I was wondering how I should position the handle so its at a good angle, has room for my fingers and doesnt hit my leg. So basically im looking for advise and pictures on how other people have mounted theirs.
Thanks
I use the original front bolt, then piviot it as far out (thumb away from base) as i could wile still allowing it to sit semi-flat on the base (miyata). I haven’t had any problems with it.
I suggest bending the base of the handle to fit the curve of the carbon fiber. If you have a flat tube lying around, you can cut it out to use as a gasket. Doing that helps prevent the handle from loosening up.
I cut off about 1.5" or so and then angle it for maximal leg clearance and smoothness on each side.
George Barnes has a PDF file explaining how to make an air seat and in that PDF he also explains how to mount a Reeder handle. GB4 how to guides
Most people end up cutting off some length from the end of the handle so it doesn’t rub your leg. Orient it for comfort and finger clearance, then cut off enough so it doesn’t get in the way of your leg.
