Having tryed Muni rides after each of these natural boost substances I think
that choc sheddies are more fun , taste better and make Muni just as much fun.
Red Bull ain’t worth the cash, or maybe I’m just a chocoholic. Opions please on
ideal pre ride breakfasts. sarah

When it’s a long drive to the trail, it’s convenient to stop at a handy Mc D’s
for a breakfast burrito and some OJ. If this is not enough, and you really want
to mix all 4 food groups in your stomach at the same time, add a sausage Mc
muffin with egg.
Your mileage may vary.

healthy, cheaply, or even in good taste but it’s what I often end up doing.
RE: Red Bull V Chocolate Sheddies
A breakfast burrito, when it’s “at home”, is a tortilla filled with scrambled
eggs, cheese, and (for the adventurous) a little salsa. Not so filling as the
bean, meat, &/or rice filled variety. I could be wrong about this, having never
purchased a commercially available breakfast burrito, but I have made these at
home before.

What on earth is a breakfast burito when its at home? Mine are a tea time thing
with beef chili and chese in a soft tortilla is there any similarity. I think
mine would impair my mileage as they are massive and I’m too stuffed after wards
to do owt but retreat to the sofa and slump.

I would not go anywhere without sum Weetabix inside me. Mind you I am a sucker for an advert with a hummable tune
Still wondering where I can buy ‘chocolate sheddies’. They sound similar to that old favourite, ‘chocolate shreddies’, although I have to say that chocolate shreddies have sounded much less appetising since ‘shreddies’ has become popular slang for men’s underpants
What I do is think, ‘I could do with losing a bit of weight, so I won’t stock up on calories before I go.’ Then I get 10 miles into a ride and start to flag a bit. Then I stop at a coffee shop, realise I’ve no money… and then I can be found lurking at the side of footpaths waiting for a chance to eat a plump pedestrian.
In an ideal world, I would recognise the likelihood of getting hungry on a long ride and take a banananana or something. Trouble with banananananas is I never know when to stop.
I’d have to say the ideal pre-ride breakfast is Nutella. Nothing is more nutritious than Nutella caked onto bread. After all … Nutella “provide energy to think and do”.
I’ve gone through an average of 1 large jar of Nutella every week since I was 5 years old. That’s means I’ve eaten approx. 1040 jars or 780Kg’s of Nutella to date. I wonder if that’s enough to get sponsored by them?
And it’s better than marmite … but let’s not start that thread again.
Carl
I hate to say this, but if ‘shreddies’ are men’s underpants, what does that make ‘chocolate shreddies’?
Off-topic, yes… I’m really sorry
Later,
Eli.
P.S. I’ve done a lot of road racing (bike) and montain bike riding. I’ve found bananas, waffles, cereal and eggs all to be good. Fruit and protein (eggs, cheese, peanut butter) and something to fill me up (cereal or waffles/pancakes) make a good breakfast. Food in general works well for me, but I decided to be helpful and specify a bit.
being a GCSE biology student i have to say that Red Bull gives u an energy high, which is great for Muni, but you get a really low patch a while after.
ps Weetabix is the best ceresal yet, u can’t beat a good four weetabix in the morning
So I’m not alone! (well, on the 4 Weetabix at once front at least) I had the piss taken out of me at a Burns’ Supper on Saturday when the subject got round to what people had for breakfast, but maybe that had something to do with always eating them out of my favourite bowl.
I can’t exercise after that though, I find I’m prone to indigestion so I’ll have an omelette and a few bananas before exercise if I’m well prepared (or a last minute bar of chocolate if I’m not).
Have fun!
Graeme
Weetabix, schmeetabix… we all know the One True Breakfast is Cornflakes!

jam on toast, the perfect pre-ride food.
I reckon they should sell it in bike shops for lots of money -
NEW Power Jam On Toast
A carefully chosen mix of short and long chain carbohydrates blah blah blah.
whatever, it tastes nice and gives you lots of whoomph and boing, both of which are important for muni rides. It’s also to be recommended as a post-swimming snack and a normal breakfast and a too lazy to cook anything proper snack. In fact it’s the snack for all occasions. Well, except the occasion when you don’t have a toaster, in which case you’re pretty much screwed.
