Red-Bull Mayhem

I’ve just got the info through for this year’s Red-Bull 24hr Mountain
Mayhem race. Rule 2a seemed worthy of passing on here…

“2a. Bike specification - Due to the rise in popularity of 29in wheeled
mountain bikes, and also to the efforts of the Unicyclists, we are
relaxing the rule about bikes having to have 26in wheels. But it is still
a mountain bike event and we ask that you enter in the spirit of the race
and compete on a proper mountain bike. So no cyclocross bikes, OK?”

Cool - we get our own rule! (Didn’t realise we were breaking one last year
on our Cokers…)

The cynicist in me would suggest that seeing as Gary Fisher will be
attending on a 29" wheeled bike then this may have more to do with the
rule change.

The racer in me would like to point out that our team got more TV coverage
and more pictures in mags than garys team last year , and we didn’t have
such stupid facial hair. It might also be worth noting that Pat Adams is
an honoury unicyclist and let us in to the race after it was full.
