To many of my couch potato friends I seem extreme, but every once in awhile something comes up that tells me I am perfectly normal. Now THIS is extreme! Jamie Pierre set a new record by dropping off a 255 foot cliff at Wyoming’s Grand Targhee ski area…
Amazing, but aparently he had an inverted “Lawn Dart Landing”. Didn’t get the required three pedal revolusions after performing the skill:
-shudders-
that’s crazy
That’s hilarious! I’ll bet that was the most fun he’s had in his life!!
Could as easily been the last too…
Well done him, but it seems pretty silly really. If it’s too big to land and ride away, why not just use a parachute, or jump onto an air-mat?
Love this bit from the article above: “Pierre said he landed in the perfect spot. [Ed: ie on his HEAD!?]”
he meant that he hit the deepest, softest, steepest snow
its totally landable… his skiis were just so big that they caught tons of air and acted like parachutes and flipped him over
So does this somehow qualify as a record?
that’s cool, I could do that if I really tried.
He should have done the drop on a unicycle. Would have had the same results (other than the landing on his head part).
The problem then is gathering enough speed to actually clear the cliff. I hear that them ski thingies are faster than a unicycle.
I wanna see the video of him doing this, that would be pretty kool to watch, specially going headfirst lol
i saw it somewhere… try googling TGR… teton gravity research
i think they had to dig him out…
Just hover a helicopter over a steep and soft snow slope. Jump. Hold your breath after you land while your friends dig you out.
