rec.unicycling

I was wondering what happened with the unicycling newsgroup. I saw some messages
a while back about an RFD, but I never saw what happened with the newsgroup.

Also, I was wondering if an alt newsgroup (alt.rec.unicycling or something) is a
possibility. I don’t know much about newsgroups but I’m guessing that alt
newsgroups are easier to come by. (I noticed at least two newsgroups devoted to
Wesley Crusher’s death, which leads me to believe they are not terribly
difficult to create) Anyhow, I think that it might be preferable to have an alt.
newsgroup rather than none (if rec.unicycling doesn’t pass)

It was being worked on it in December and submitted after Christmas break. It
was returned with a few suggestions. It was revised and sent to the list for
suggestions a few weeks ago.

I’ve been extremely busy January, and didn’t really have time to resubmit it and
wouldn’t have had time to respond to questions as on the proponents of
rec.sport.unicycling.

Now, just when I think things at work have slowed down enough to submit
rec.sport.unicycling, I’ll be away on business for at least a week. I’m not sure
I’d have the time or access to email and news to respond to newgroup questions
(while away on business). When I do, I will submit the new rec.sport.unicycling
proposal to news.announce.newgroups, etc.

It would be easier to create an alt newsgroup, but if we do that first, it will
be almost impossible to do a rec newsgroup afterwards. If rec.sport.unicycling
doesn’t pass the first time, we may want to wait six months and try again.

If there’s not a lot of opposition to rec.sport.unicycling, we should have
enough votes to pass it. The proposal has to be perfect though; some people will
oppose, simply because we forgot to cross are T’s and dot our I’s.

I’ll submit the fourth draft (archive location change only) of
rec.sport.unicycling shortly.
