When we played uni-hockey at the club a few years ago, the goalie role
was preferred by persons not yet quite skilled in riding. They would
just be mounted on their unis, leaning against the wall most of the
time (our goals were rectangles painted onto the gym’s wall).

This makes me wonder what a good uni-hockey team would use for a goalie and what skills would be used as a goalie. I would assume the wheel would be used as significant blocking area. Hmmm… person would need good balance during idling and the ability to move the wheel forwards or backwards quickly at the last minute. Sounds challenging.
I’ve never played and never seen a uni-hockey game. sounds very interesting. Maybe I can rally a few folks this winter to give it a try.
I just noticed that you have my quote in your sig line. Fun!
Note, that according to the rules, the goalie cannot use the net or goal frame as support. They can lean on the stick, as sort of a monopod, for a balance aid. But they cannot hold on to any other support when they are in play.
I think it’s OK for the goalie to hold on to the goal when the ball (puck) is on the other side of the court, but once the ball is on their side of the court they must be riding free to be able to guard the goal.
