Hi Daniel,
Whereas I haven’t tried Seat Drag on a regular unicycle, my guess is
that you’re just right. The ultimate should be much easier, because the
pedals are closer to the plane of the wheel as you mentioned, and because
you can pretty much trap the wheel between your inner shins, and keep it
from tipping too far to one side or the other. Essentially, you became the
frame and bearings!
