If you have information about current and past builders and riders of
tandem unicycles (either with riders front and back or side by side),
please post them.
This is a repeat of my previous request for information about tandem
unicycle builders and riders. Here is additional information that
hasn’t to my knowledge been posted yet:
I recently found out that Mark Brichford from the Redford unicycle club
built a tandem similar to the one I built, a few years earlier than 1991.
Several of the club’s riders did manage to ride it for limited distances
but they apparently did not continue to perfect this talent. Recently,
Mark has build a new tandem that his son and others were attempting to
ride. If someone has his e-mail address, please let me know.
How 'bout kin? Here is the address of a Dave Brichford, 810-474-1733, e-mail 102536.3727@compuserve.com, with the same club. Might be able to give you a lead.

I’ve seen the old Mark Brichford tandem. It hung on the wall in the
Brichford’s Redford garage the entire time I was a member of the club,
starting in 1980. I never saw it off the wall. This means it was made before
1980, and that there were problems with riding it. From my memory, I was
told of two separate problems. One was the well-known difficulty in riding
such a thing. The other, if I remember correctly, was that it wasn’t too
structurally sound, and maybe was bendy and twisty when two riders were on
it.
It’s nice to know the next generation of Redford-area riders are going at it
again. I wish them luck! I don’t have an email address for Mark but you
could try Carol Brichford: t_and_c_brichford@juno.com
(note to Gilby, her email address on the USA page is out of date).

I began building a tandem (front and back) unicycle back in 1986 or '87.
Unfortunately I’m fairly slow and still haven’t completed it. Actually
when my parents moved, all my work (what little of it there was had been
left there when I moved away) was sent to the local dump.
My plan was to have dual chain-drive to the wheel and use bicycle
seatpost/bottom bracket parts for the two ends. I had a hub that was
threaded for sprockets on both sides which I’ve not seen anything similar to
since.
