Re: I guess I'm not so alone after all.

MUni. Mountain Unicycling.

Hmm… Another post from the newsgroup that didn’t make it to the unicyclist.com forum.

Welcome Jacob! I got my first unicycle about 20 years ago. I can’t remember what it was that sparked my interest in unicycling. I didn’t know any other unicyclists. I just suddenly asked for one for Christmas when I was in the 7th grade. I don’t know why. My only guess is that maybe the unicycle rider in “Welcome Back Kotter” got the idea into my head, but I really don’t know.

I’m still stuck on wheel walking. One of these days I’ll learn that skill. But just last week I had a successful one foot ride with the other foot pointing out in front of me (rather than on the frame). The old guy can still learn new skills.

  • Trials Riding (jumping onto and off of things)

  • hopping on the wheel

  • seek out other unicyclists for a good learning environment

  • check out unicycling.org and go to 10 skill levels for some ideas
