After closer inspection of the video, I can see Sem’s right breast hanging out of his shirt!

Since some of you post on a message board rather than USENET, there’s
a lag between real USENET postings and updates from your message
board. Checkernauts second message didn’t get posted on USENET until
after I had posted.
All I can say is that I was there and he didn’t have a successful
ride. He was gliding along on a red safety strap and falling forward
the entire way. I’m not the only one who was there and had the same
opinion. It was way too obvious… He should try again.
Re: Re: Check out the new content at Tallest Unicycle World Record
1) Have a close look at all cables and straps on this picture.
2) So, kept in mind the unicycle was connected to only one robe… have another look at the movie and take a close look to everything that happens on the very left side right after he stops pedaling. The robe that then sweeps up was the only cord connected to the cycle!
(and that’s why the people in left as well run faster than gravity!)
And yes, he was falling forward the whole way, how else would you be able to ride into that direction? Duh!
about the red strap:
- Given it’s direction as in the channel4 footage (as where you also can see the red strap was not towing any weight), how would sem be able to ride forward if it was held tight? explain that to me, checkernuts.
- And IF it was lifting sem, how the 1-|3!! he would be able to control, (or even pretend to control) this unicycle:
ever been riding with seat in front?
ever been riding with seat in front on a 7’?
ever imagine about the effect of being lifted from your seat on a 115’…?
I think the IUF should spontanious step forward, and count this record for credible.
Just like real sport-federations would do in their disciplines
(and especially since sem archived all previous levels, he performed it sitting up straight with his arms stretched and horizontal. His hands were flat with palms down and fingers enough together, the figure (a line) was performed as entered, from start to finish, without the rider touching/smashing the floor, and last but not least; the music was not conflicting to anyone).
Last week I met Anthony, Danielle and Nick Gatto.
I wondered why he does not even publish his newest records anymore.
I slowly start to understand what they’ve tried to explain.
But for me it is clear enough;
Anthony Gatto is the greatest juggler,
and Sem Abrahams is the greatest unicyclist.
cheers,

In Control
Having been with Sem in the crane basket for the record attempts (acting as both videographer as well as assisting him), I can attest to the control that he had while riding. Unfortunately, the clips that the news stations used are from the first attempts while Sem was evaluating the cycle and the support crew was quite literally learning the ropes. If you were to watch the rides in sequence, you would see an obvious progression from him getting the feel of the dynamic system to controlling the cycle for the final ride. Sem is smooth and confident in the saddle as he starts out and completes the record ride. There is no doubt of the control exhibited. From the design and fabrication of the cycle to the amazing support crew, every element was in place to allow Sem to display his incredible talent in setting a true record–a record worthy of the unicyclist he is.
Re: In Control
thanx for the insider’s view
are more video’s (other than the network coverage) available or will it be soon?
and would u agree with some of the comments expressed in this thread based solely on the video available to visitor’s to the site?
I went up in the basket with Sem and Thom later that night. Sem asked if I wanted to sit on the uni… I was a bit freaked, so I didn’t try it. Just being up that high for the first time, even though you know you have a safety attached was a bit overwelming. Hind site – I should have just gone for it!! If given the chance again I’m on it… even if it is just to feel how it pedals.

20/20 vision
just add it to the ‘regrets’ folder
u’ll be able to access it again while sitting on the porch in a rockin’ chair
at least it’ll be something
i live in fear of reaching rockin’ chair age and having NOTHING to think about
no joys, no regrets, NOTHING
that’s the kind of thing that scares me
(now that i’ve let u into more than u care to know about me…)
No regrets… not at all. I know what I was feeling up in that tiny basket. Now over coming that feeling… that is another story! BTW - The highest uni I’ve ridden was 9 foot… I hope you get joy out of riding
Teresa
Don’t worry. If you rent all the equipment again and go practice three hours a day, for the next three weeks…
…you’ll go bankrupt before you know it. Oh, and you might learn to ride the uni.
