pretty crappy writing (the lines said), but lotsa cool, realistic looking killing, so it all works out

You could have gone to see No Country for Old Men and gotten good writing and realistic looking killing.

That movie just depressed me. I don’t know if it is because I am getting old or getting stupid, but I am more and more starting to appreciate movies that make me feel good.

I am sure it was well-done and realistic and poignant and all those things movies are meant to be, but I much preferred watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for the umpteenth time with my 3 year old than watching No Country for Old Men.

I like depressing movies and depressing music.

And I’m looking forward to being able to rent No Country for Old Men so I can figure out why I liked it and what it’s about.

All of which is not to say that watching Dick Van Dyke with your 3 year old isn’t great too.
