I’ve been allowed to compete in NAUCC and UNICON without anyone making an issue of the fact that I’m an Android (Actually, I’m bi-racial, because my paternal grandfather was an Irishman.)
Has anyone taken note of the way Google is marketing Androids?!
They use a picture of a Little Green Man with antenna
Those of you in the know recall times when the world stereotyped Irish as Leprechauns, but days where anti-Irish stereotypes were tolerated are long past.
How is it a major corporation can use this Android stereotype? Is Google racist?
Unicyclists worldwide will not stand for this! Androids and Humans stand together against vicious stereotypes!
Androïds are mostly ok (some of my friends are androïds) but I am prejudiced against droïds that haunt big corporations: they can be recognized by their suit and tie and the problem is that their program is bugged and that they are not aware of it!
Billy, you and your android brethren need to get over yourselves. Grow a thicker skin. Part of your fight has already been fought… and won by Lucasfilm. The Droid phones from Verizon each carry a tiny piece of a licensing fee to Lucasfilm for the right to use a word George Lucas apparently invented. If you call yourself a Droid, apparently George Lucas invented you too.
Actually the logo represents the Android operating system. It is found on more than phones. And androids are by definition, not robots.
Google is a source for word definitions? In any case, I think mine was a little off. I was confusing androids with self-programming robots/machines. I guess that’s called something else.
Anyway, that kind of goes against the Android OS logo, which looks like R2-D2 and not like an android. Unless it’s supposed to be an android based on R2-D2. But then again it couldn’t be, because Lucasfilm would be taking it to court again…
you are referring to Adroid-xploitation films, correct?
They typically promote negative stereotypes of Androids, like the Blaxploitation films of the 1970s did for Black persons. They typically take place in ghettos and feature plotlines which entail crime, hit men, drug dealers and pimps. Ethnic slurs against whites (e.g., “honky”), and antagonistic white characters such as corrupt cops, politicians, prostitutes and gullible gangsters are common. Meanwhile, Blaxploitation films set in the South often take place on a plantation, dealing with slavery and miscegenation (from Wiki).
