QX splined cranks creak

Hi all,

I built up a QX RGB 27.5 a while back using QX hub and splined cranks, all brought new and my first time using splined connection.

I always had a small annoying creak which I couldn’t find until now.

I have found it to be around the crank to crank arms area. I have removed arms , cleaned and applied small amount of grease to the splines and refitted.

This has definitely helped and made it lots better but I do think it’s there still , I am going out tomorrow for a ride on it which I’m hoping will be creak free/better :crossed_fingers:

Does anyone have any experience with this that could help cure this niggly creak ?

Thanks

Gap between hub and cranks has been reduced on latest production to refuse creaking

Could it be the same issue as

and

?

A good answer is

Sorry for the :france: :baguette_bread: :wine_glass:

Clean and some grease has always done the trick for me, although it does not seem like an issue for me.

Thanks for your responses, luckily my noise wasn’t as bad as the video which would have drove me mad as I don’t like noises like that.

Cleaning and greasing seams to of cured it, I went out today and it was fantastic riding with no noises.

Just hope it stays noise free :crossed_fingers:

Really? is that the sound of the cranks? To me that always sounds like the spokes. As if the whole wheel is about to collapse at any moment…

I have that on my Nimbus Oracle 29" that makes that sound. So not a QuAx. What is a splined crank? They’re ISIS cranks on the Nimbus.

It sure is an awful sound , I also thought it was a spoke fault which it wasn’t.

Splined is qu-ax connection between crank arms and axle , it has many many more grooves in it than isis connection
