I’ve just found a really neat quidditch web site. http://www.freaksonparade.com/qi/
Nothing to do with unicycles, but lots about quidditch.
Now to get this post back on some sort of topic
for the rules for unicycle quidditch check out www.uk.unicyclist.com/quidditchrules/rules.html
a game might be played at BUC11, I’ll try not to forget the balls this year!
Questions:
You say a round foam ball should be used for the Quaffle. What kind of round foam ball? What size? Is there a certain type of sport that the ball should come from?
What do you use for the bludger rackets? Cricket bats?
I would love to play, but I also don’t have access to enough unicycle riders. It sounds fun though! Unicycle quidditch is a great idea. It’s a sport that seems oddly appropriate on unicycles.
Jst any lageish foam ball, the biger the better, untillits toobig to go tho the goals. Ours is cut from a kids foam soccer ball, then srimmed with latex and calico to make it tougher, heavier and slightly tacky so easier to pick up.
Nothing, the buldgers are thrown. Basketballs are painfull enough thrown. Having a bucnch of kids trying to handle another implement on the pitch, would make it a very dangerous game, it hard enough for the ref to stay in control of unsporting behaviour thats deliberate.
You need to go to a regional or national event, best events to get a game like this going at, afterall this sport needs two teams of 7 and 3 referees. 17 people to play a game, not many clubs can do that reguarly.
SArah
Hm, interesting how we both came up with the idea of snitch refs ( tho we call them differnt names) I thiuk uni quidditch has fewer writen rules, which is fine by me. Its game that has been developed by a group that played it, so far each time we play there have been at least a couple of people there who have played before. Alos , so far when ever we play there are a hoarde of kids who know the game from the books and so already know the rules, they are just playing it on unicycles not broomsticks. We adapt the playing field to suit whatever space we have to play in.
