Question for Bugman and an idea

Last spring my local paper was full of stories about the 17 year (I think that was the time span) return of the cicadas to the northeast over the past summer. There were articles about how we’d be overrun by them and what insect-phobes could do to deal with the problem. But they never showed up. Do you know what happened?

And here’s my idea. While watching the Tournament of Roses parade this past New Years’ Day it occured to me that the world was due for a Tournament of Exoskeletons parade. Floats made entirely of insect exoskeletons. I ran the idea past a couple of Disney Animal Kingdom interns who had some scorpion exoskeletons to show visitors. They loved the idea but weren’t sure what the front office would think. Do you think Atlanta would sponsor it?

Thanks.

… that’s gross …

Besides … the number of skins needed would make the task difficult.

Afterall, are you going to breed bugs just for a float …? That’s what it would take to gather the numbers.

I think you need more thought on such a subject. (IMO)

Well, we could start small, kind of on the scale of a flea circus.

Hmmm… You breed them, I’ll kill them.

Can you imagine bugs of all colors shapes and sizes. You could get some great artwork. As for size, it may b good to start smaller, since the bugs wouldn’t cover as much area as other organic material such as flowers. Still a fun idea.
