Putting trials structures in perspective

Next time someone trials to tell you they don’t have resources to build trials obstacles at an event, get them to take a look at this…

:astonished: Thats crazy

They remind me of old-school roller coasters. But I think there was some budget involved in getting those built? :astonished:

Los Angeles Coliseum, 1938? They must have had to manufacture the snow too…

One of the notes under the photos mentions the use of crushed ice.

Jeez, imagine the sway from the wind at the top of one of those things.

thats insane! I wish the health and safety man didn’t exist lol

They still build that sort of stuff, a few years ago for the x-games in Los Angeles they built giant skateboard ramp up to the roof of a tall building

haha but if I were to do that in my garden… the police would be very very angry. You probably could get away with that here. Shame.

looks like fun. anyone know where i can find one?

only hard part (in my mind), would be trying to hold yourself level really, if the wind kicked you you’d end up shooting off the side. Plus, their ski equipment is so janky compared to now days. Like back in those days you were skiing on 8ft long 5’’ wide boards, where as now days guys (and girls :)) are skiing on shorter boards with twin tips.

but man, thats nothing compared to now days. (sorta)

how bout this -
