I’m considering the purchase of another unicycle. I currently ride a Schwinn 24"
and I’d like to get something that is faster but not too difficult to master. I
would really like to get a Semcycle 26" but I don’t know if it would be much
faster than my Schwinn. I’m also considering a Semcycle XL 28" but I’d prefer to
get the better quality Semcycle 26".
I currently cruise at about 6-8 mph on the 24", would I be able to cruise at
10-12 on a 26" with the same effort level? Is a 26" or 28" much more difficult
to ride? Would anyone reccommend shorter cranks for more speed and, if so, what
is the downside?

Check out a Coker. The 36-inch wheel will satisfy your need for speed.
Thanks to all who replied (mostly offline) to my request for advice. Last night
I bit the bullet and ordered a Coker!
I had been debating whether to buy a Semcucle 26" or 28" for more speed but the
overwhelming response from the list was that for speed you need a Coker. So,
thanks to John at the Unicycle Source, I should be learning to ride the beast by
the middle of next week.
Thanks again for the input. I’ll keep you all informed of my progress.

I’ve had a 28" XL for several years and have been happy with it, although I’ll
agree that the deluxe Semcycle is better quality. > > I currently cruise at about 6-8 mph on the 24", would I be able to cruise at > 10-12 on a 26" with the same effort level? I didn’t have too much trouble going to the 28" Semcycle. I use 4-3/8" cranks
during the summer and 5-1/2" cranks during the fall and winter. The shorter
cranks give me speed, the longer cranks help deal with unsure terrain like
sticks, leaves, and snow. The downside of the 4-3/8" cranks is that they were
expensive, about $40-$50. Otherwise, they are not too bad to ride on as long as
you pay attention.
