RE: MAY - BICYCLE MONTH
Governor Gilmore’s representative will issue a proclamation declaring May
Bicycle Month at the Pedal the Parkway event on Saturday, May 2, 1998. Assistant
Secretary of Transportation, Chip Nottingham, will present the proclamation from
the Governor at 10:00am at the Colonial Parkway College Creek overlook. Motor
vehicle traffic will be prohibited between 8:00am and
1:00pm between Williamsburg and Jamestown. Join bicyclists May 2 for a car-free
ride on the Colonial Parkway.
Join members of the League of American Bicyclist, Virginia Bicycle Federation,
Historic Triangle Bicycle Advisory Committee, Bicycle Education Association,VDOT
Bicycle Advisory Committee members and Bicycle clubs throughout the Commonwealth
in celebrating Governor Gilmore’s recognition of May as bicycle month.
Bicycle helmets are required for all persons bicycling.
