I just got a Panasonic SD9 while I was in Europe, I made one video and it worked great!

I would recommend this camera for ALL unicyclists, but would not for people how really will woprk with videos…

After buying it I got some small jobs for skate videos, and motorcycle videos… it worked great for that and will pay my NZ ticket :stuck_out_tongue:

The problem is: Fortunately everything worked PERFECT, and a friend invited me to cover the Brazilian Kart Championship. Also I got a request for a small doc about underground sports. On both I will need lots of interviews and my camera don’t have a Microphone jack.

I can sell it here pretty well, and I will be able to invest in a better camera. I researched about all compact cameras, but there aren’t model that will work for me :(…

To use a compact camera I would need a good one, and a 35mm adapater to contro focus and aperture…

So, I started to think in a prosumer camera in 1500-2000US Dollars range.

Until now I have two options: the Sony FX7 and the Sony HVR-HD1000U

Both are Full HD cameras, DV Tape, have easily manual control (focus ring), and support lenses like compact cameras (Cheap TelePhotos, Wide Angles and FishEyes).

The FX7 is smaller, lighter and costs 2000US Dollars. The HD1000U IS BIGGER, Shoulder mount and costs 1500US Dollars.

Anyone had experiences with those camera? Would you suggest any other models!?

it’s a really important decision, and I need it fast, cause I will sell my camera soon, and I will need the new one fast. Also a friend will import it for me, so i will not have shipping/taxes costs :wink:

The GL2 is inside my price range but it’s not full HD :(:

I can’t pay in many times… it’s only for USA consumers. I can buy it here (more expensive) in many months too…

I’m not sure if I need a shoulder mount camera or not… i need more opinions! I will cover races too, so I will not have time to get a tripod!

what kind of sports do you do underground? build tunnels, dig tunnels, stay underground with an air tube to the surface? run through tunnels underground? How far underground do they go?

really, name some underground sports, please.

Wow sorry, i believe it’s only a South America name :p… Here (argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia and many other countries (including some in Europe), we call underground sports all sports like BMX, Skateboarding, Parkour, Street/Flat Uni… Basically Street environment sports that aren’t that popular and don’t have attention (not like soccer, Basketball, voley and others)…

I researched a bit, and both cameras that I posted don’t have XLR imputs :(. I will need a Mic with integrated power (for phanton power)… And it costs around 150 Dollars…

Tomorrow I will probably test the FX7 in a friends house, and maybe will go to a studio to try some other cameras… let’s see what I find out :wink:
