Private Property Rights Implementation Act

NYTimes today, page A22: USA Congress is expected to vote today on the Private Property Rights Implementation Act, a deeply misguided giveaway for real estate developers.

The bill would make it easier for developers to sue the city when zoning decisions diminished the value of their property. Most zoning does that.

Developers would make more money if they could cram more houses on small lots, build skyscrapers 200 stories tall, or develop endangered wetlands.

The bill helps developers claim $$ compensation for run-of-the-mill zoning decisions such as these.

It’s just another law by the republican machine to make rich people richer. Since 2001, there have been hundreds of rules passed to let corporations pollute more with less financial repercussions, less safety restrictions, and less tax on their estates.

Darn, when I clicked the thread title I was hoping there’d be some act that’d undo the idiotic ruling by the supreme court that allowed public developers to seize private land. Bah. They should call those pricks “Supreme Court Un-justices”… the title “Justice” doesn’t apply anymore, IMHO.

Ditto.
