Trials bike riders do tubeless - you can’t really get much more punishing on a tyre than trials riders
I tryed tubeless MUni and it does not so great
Turtle is riding a Triton disk frame 24-29 and this has the same weight as KH 29.
tubeless, my experiance:
slip over rim in while riding in wet conditions for longer time cause the seal gets slippery from water, otherwise good - but I prefer a “waterproof” wheel…
the duro is indeed the heaviest tire of all:(
gazza will save 100g
spokes could save 100g, I use the sapim cx now for two years without any problem…
dont compare extra light unis with “allround heavy duty munis”
disassemble brake, handle and change tire and you will get aproximately same wheight than Smily
its much bigger - fits a 4" tire!
Triton is also build from larger tubes for maximum stability
Can you tell me more about it? What rim/tire combination, what kind of liqiud?
I may get rid of that idea… if it doesnt work, i can safe the money…
My muni is also a “heavy duty” one At least for me haha
(Dont forget that i break cranks before the rest of my uni ;)… im pretty good at breaking cranks
)
Im using a brake on my muni too
FWIW, I ran a Racing Ralph tubeless on my 29er for a year or so. I did the split tube method with some Stan’s sealant, mostly for puncture protection rather than saving weight (I’m not sure you actually save much - you’ve still got half a tube and the sealant). I liked the way it felt (you can run higher pressure without it feeling too harsh, which was good for xc racing) but it was such a pain not being able to change tyres easily for muddy or dry conditions that I’m now using a tube with some Stan’s sealant inside it.
I know a couple of people who ran tubeless on “proper” munis and didn’t report any problems, even in the wet (phil on a 24" Duro and jap on a 26" Rubber Queen - neither of them frequent the forum any more though).
Rob
it was large marge rim, surly larry and the sealant was some “bike shop glue” - looks like sperm
the problem appear after hafl a day riding in deep wet snow - normal rain was no problem, but rests of the glue convert in slippery slime…
latex is also water dilutable…
after drops the tire jumps over the rim with a impressive “BOOM”
sorry was thinking at you long jump uni,
you are right, but I guess you would add at least 1kg changing to duro and heavy tube…
And another rim… the Halo is not wide enough for a 3.0 tire
Here’s my new 29" Nimbus Drak.
It’s a real head turner… Isn’t that punny!
The beast had dual hole KH Moments with K124 butterfly pedals
This came with the awesome DISSENT. It also came with a foss clear intertube but i popped it. That’s what I get for living in the desert. Now has a presta smart tube.
Has the nimbus double wall dominator rim. Not drilled though.
In need of a magura… soon hopefully (sorry about angle)
Yeah there it is. Pretty much stock. May build lift handle like nurse bens.
This last picture isn’t supposed to be here. But it’s imbedded now and cant get it out
I love its its spleen! I like the build!
Yours should be coming soon shouldn’t it?
I like the black, it’s cool. I should have gotten the drak instead of the nomad. Oh well ,it’s still treating me right.
