Post Your Coker Pics

I wanna see your cokers! So please post pictures of your own Coker/Commuter and describe the specs, and any memorable moments you’ve shared with it (optional).

I dont have one yet but I’ll be getting one soon.

Hey U-Turn, when can I post mine?

Coker from Bedford
He sand blasted the chrome off, welded brake mounts on, powder coated black. It has the “new” brushed steel rim with a decent braking surface.
Viscount saddle base with air bag, gel pad and Fusion cover.
GB4 handle.
Magura HS22 brake fastened to Summit mounting bar.
Skinny water bottle.
Cheap Schwinn speedometer from Walmart.
Bicycle Euro 150 cranks

Pics of my Coker can be found here:

there can be only one Coker Pic, and that’s Unibrier’s Coker Pic

My Coker :stuck_out_tongue:

  • Coker tyre
  • Stans tubeless conversion
  • Airfoil rim
  • Tommy Miller SS spokes
  • UDC hub
  • Various cranks of various origins
  • Snafu sealed bearing pedals
  • Std coker frame
  • Carbon KH seat, cut down fusion saddle
  • GB4 Handle

Pretty Standard Spec, but relatively light because of that :sunglasses:

Very intimate experiences:

  • Across Vietnam and Cambodia, the first unicycle ridden in Angkor Wat
  • The 24hr record ride
  • 2x 24hr Solo Mountainbike races and 2x12hr solo mountainbike races
  • Around the 50km Karapoti Classic
  • Around Lake Taupo (160km) x2
  • Alps Unitour (later this August)
  • 3rd place in the MUni downhill at Unicon12

interesting to see u on a stock frame ken
won’t some of the custom frames give u more rigidity without extra weight?
or is it a case of ‘it’s not broken so u’re not going to fix it’?

Nah, I think it’s fine. I wouldn’t go for something more rigid unless it weighed less. Main reason it’s not a custom (yet) is because I haven’t got around to it, and have spent far too much money on new toys lately (currently saving for a Schlumpf 29’er)

When I get around to it, I’ll get one of our local frame builders to make me a nice frame- maybe with Columbus Ultra Foco tubing like on my road bike (love the way it rides). The other option was to use the standard mass produced carbon fibre chain stays they make for bikes and glue them together for a Carbon Coker.

Or if I’m lucky and get one of these carbon fibre yacht building outfits to sponsor me- might get them to make a monocoque carbon frame.

Re: Post Your Coker Pics

You wanna see my WHAT!?!

Am I supposed to have more than one of these?

:astonished:

that is really beautiful.

They can claim that it’s R&D for a new keel design.
That will throw off the other syndicates.

My main issue with the stock frame was the bearing mounts. My stock frame had too much slop in the bearing mounts. The frame would slide around on the bearings and given the already flexy nature of the frame it made made things more wiggly than they should have been. But that’s variable on different stock Coker frames. Some clamp the bearings better than others. I think mine has some weird distortion from the welding that keeps it from staying put on the bearing.

Mine can be found here. http://www.unicyclist.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39213&highlight=diy

Still getting comfortable learning to ride it.
I have ridden several 1 mile training sessions with freemount and no UPDs.

My JC Coker

Gee that’s a mighty long shaft you’ve got

Yes. I’ve been considering painting the Coker blue and making some extra money by getting sponsored by Viagra.

I’m actually thinking about taking the water bottle off the front and cutting the boom down so it’s shorter. The reason the boom is so long is so that the water bottle doesn’t hit the ground during a UPD. Otherwise the water bottle cage would break off after every UPD and that wouldn’t be good. The water bottle adds extra weight way out front and compromises handling so I think it’s time for it to go.

Very nice. You must get more than everyone elses share of comments riding that. How heavy is it when it’s all loaded up?

Also, your frame looks narrower at the crown than mine. It appears like the legs angle out more to the hub.

The handle and rack are aluminum so they don’t add much weight at all. The handle is very light compared to how big and bulky it looks. It’s lighter than some of the steel handlebar setups I’ve seen. The only time the Coker gets heavy is when I have the water bottle filled and a lot of gear in the trunk bag.

The frame is a GB4 by George Barnes. It is made to fit the extra-wide Coker hub. Any Coker frame made to fit the extra-wide hub is gong to have that kind of an angle to the fork legs. You just usually don’t see that fork angle in pictures because most of the pictures are taken as a profile view of the Coker.

That’s what I have, but from what I remember, the legs didn’t angle like that. I’ll have to take another look later. How old is your frame?

The frame is about 1.5 or 2 years old. I’m not entirely sure of it’s born on date. Your frame is going to be exactly the same.

The camera shot is from down low so it’s looking up at the seat. That may be why it looks different.

What am i not understanding here, i can see that there is no unicycle, but did he hop that or what did he do…?
