Post Your 36er Here

The unicycle is awesome! I love the frame and it’s ability to suit larger wheels. I think that it will definitely be the start of a new “BIGGER WHEEL” trend; however, the seat is not adjustable. So, this is definitely a drawback which should be reconsidered when modifying the design. But overall, I love the uni, and will continue to put endless amounts of miles on it! :):):)

Starwars

I am working on my next incarnation of a custom 36. Amongst other things, I have modified the Stealth2 rim to closer fit the inspiration for my customisation - that is based on the Naboo Royal Starship (pic)

It is a work in progress that I will post later but I thought I would submit pics of the wheel rim for interest sake. The pics should show how different it is from the original as it has been somewhat reprofiled and of course it is shiny. Maybe this has been done before though?

SHINY SHINY SHINY!!!.. you have given me ideas…

Do tell!!

are you going with a polished alu frame or a metallic powdercoat… I was salivating at the idea of a dark red metallic powdercoat on the frame to go with it…

My 36ers rim is powdercoated and from previous owners the old rim brakes have started to peel the (not very good tbh) coat off… i dont have the rim brakes anymore anyway - too grabby. I was thinking about ditching the coat and polishing it up.

now to find out how to either get an extra wide 48h isis hub or to lace a 36 spoke hub into a 48 spoke rim to go on this

Sounds nice… but in the case of Padme’s starship its gotta be all polished (pics)

Yup, the ‘spider’ frame would look impressive in base material, but is it aluminium or steel?

its a steel frame so i would have to powdercoat it (i already have a chrome uni and dont want a second)

also would give me a chance to get a disc tab put on it :stuck_out_tongue:

only minor issue with the frame (aside from its general boat anchourness) is it has 40mm housings meaning bearing kits…

In that case your idea of polishing the rim against a metallic paint job on the frame sounds awesome. The other mods should be straightforward. Go for it! However I would be keen to know where the source of inspiration comes from. Maybe a colour scheme from a Porsche in Fast and Furious

i guess it came from my b*ke, something about 25 and german and bare aluminium rims and hubs, chrome forks and mudguards and pale gold frame. even though she looks like a heap of junk up close now you can tell that she was damn pretty.

front mudguard destroyed itself since this pic too

Ahhh! Close the curtains! Seeing those two wheels bolted onto one frame effected like a vampire who has had a darkened window opened to the sun :sunglasses: . Of course I also have b*cycles but I keep it quiet and only ride them in the dark.

forgive me, i have closed the curtains…

i live in a city where only the stupid do not have b*kes, it takes ~4 times as long to get to the city centre from here by car - or indeed twice as long as by unicycle

Haha love the censorship! Excellent, absolutely excellent. That really made me howl

Nightfox saddle adjustment.

The aim of the Nightfox was to get the saddle as low as possible with a handle. It is currently way way lower than any other model! Some of the sacrifice was to have the saddle angle adjustable. Our research showed that the majority of people never change the saddle angle. So we selected an angle that most people are comfortable with.

As it happens the design has one big advantage over standard saddle support systems. It is considerably more rigid.

If you really want to have it at a different angle get a KH base saddle with bolts and fit spacers under the front bolt holts and use the longer bolts.

FULL POLISHED KH36er… :astonished:

That will look very, very, VERY nice indeed!!!

… Jealous :stuck_out_tongue:

Trumps my anodised Kh36 frame and cranks in Red

I think so as well…but it may also take some cleaning! Never mind, I’m retired, I have nothing else to do but ride and clean unicycles

More pictures of project to follow soon…

All alloy 36?

Just one image to highlight the ongoing construction of my fully polished 36er. The plastic parts seem to have translated OK into ‘Naboo Starship mode’. I’m having to wear shades as I assemble to avoid the polished and silvered glare :sunglasses:

That’s looking pretty awesome! Looking forward to more pics as the build progresses.
What make of fender is that?

Thanks, this is the link.

Here are some images. It remains to be seen how the bright finish stands up to the elements

So are all those pieces powdercoated?

Oh no. Powdercoating requires heat does it not? I understand there is the two-pack paint system that hardens with an epoxy so its cold but not sure is its available in silver. I did a little research on specialist paint coatings for plastics and came up with an aerosol spray paint. I got a plastic primer and cleaned the components finishing with wet and dry. The top coat is intended for plastic and I gave it several coats to build the finish.

Not sure how durable this will turn out. I will be letting the paint harden for a few weeks before assembling. Ive only had to treat the mudguard as the rest is metal. Although I am fitting a white handle to the Impact saddle and likewise a white bumper. These were bought by purchasing this http://www.unicycle.uk.com/unicycle-parts/saddles/saddles/schwinngel-blu-sil.html from unicycle.co.uk. So I can remove the handle and bumper and put them on the Impact
