Porn Messages on Unicycling Newsgroup

Is it only me, or are these porn messages annoying anyone else? This is
not the place for such messages. This is a family newsgroup and I’d
appreciate if these idiots go elsewhere to post their crap. Isn’t there
anything we can do to delete these messages off? Is everyone else getting
these messages as well? Should I be contacting my newsgroup provider to
delete these messages off?

Personally, I like to see a tight ass with great legs when she’s
sitting on a uni doing wheel walking. As for “Kate Sexy ass brunette
with a body that can kill most men”, can she one foot idle on one of
her luscious legs?

A pox on thee who posts inappropriate messages to this newsgroup. Take
your sex and park it somewhere else.

P.S. I’d like to go on record that I like sexy women with nice asses BUT
NOT ON THIS NEWSGROUP.

Don_TaiATyahooDOTcoDOTuk but I live in Toronto

You’re right, Don, and this newsgroup seems to be way more “poluted” than
others I’ve visted. Let’s all report as many as we can to their ISPs. To
find their ISP, (DON’T look at their return address!) you need to find the
full headers of the message. In Outlook Express press CTRL+F3, I’m not
sure about other newsreaders. You see something such as below above the
message (this one from the one just before your post):

Notice the line that says “X-Complaints-To: abuse@videotron.ca”. I think
that means the user’s ISP is Videotron. I forwarded the message, with the
above headers
to that address…we’ll wait and see what happens.

Many of the messages are coming from Videotron.ca. What can we do if there
is no “X-Complaints-To” line?

You could try looking at the message-id line. On this message it might
look like Message-ID: <Uvlf7.74568$B37.1734918@news1.rdc1.bc.home.com> So
you could send to abuse@home.com (but DON’T!) LOL!

It looks like the rec.sport.unicycling forum at http://www.unicyclist.com
is filtered and family friendly. If you want to avoid the porn spam posted
to the news group it looks like Gilby’s site is the best bet.

It would be nice if the gateway that copies the news group messages to the
unicycling email list would filter out the obvious porn spam and keep it
from getting posted to the email list, but I don’t know if that is
practical or possible.

Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp

These porn messages and ads for stuff is not specific just to this newsgroup. I belong to several other computer related and bicycling related newsgroups. They all seem to have this filth.

As for combating this try this (what Yahoo! Tech Support suggested to me:

Go here:

Type in the stuff after the “@”. This will list an administrative contact and other contacts. Write a “nice” note to them explaing your situation and forward the e-mail or news received along with the internet headers in full. 99.9% of ISPs or webmail providers have 0 tolerance for users who do this.

This has worked for me.

BTW- if you want a good reading of the news group, unicyclist.com offers a filtered view.

Derek :sunglasses:

I use Netscape’s filtering capabilities to ward off porno spam. Just a
few words entered into the filters and I haven’t received any porno
offerings since. I still get the “get rich quick” stuff but don’t want to
filter out any of your messages that may contain some of the same words.
I’m not sure if MS Internet Explorer has filtering, I bet it does but
I’ll have to check.

I’m not sure what “@” to use. For example, this message uses
@mochamail.com and @hotmail.com.
