im thinking of buying a pocketbike and putting nos on it and a flame exhaust kit from a car. i may then sell it on ebay. if so, do you think people will buy it…?
Jay Leno’s research would seem to indicate yes. As long as it works. Probably even if it doesn’t work, if the buyer believes it can.
anyone have any experience with nos kits or engines? i have a gas rc car so i understand the basics of 2 stroke engines. any tips from a mechanic would be nice tho.
Napoleon Dynamite…time machine…yeah.
will it need crystals?
oh wait, I forgot to put in ther crystals
I can’t explain
yeah flame exaust when your ass is 4" away.
real smart
Maybe he has fireproof clothing.
If a relatively high power nos kit is fitted there wil be no need for a flame kit. Due to the decreased nitrogen content in the combustion chamber, and the subsequent chamber cooling decrease, large quantitites of excess fuel has to be pumped in to the chamber. This fuel remains unburnt as it passes through the engine and will usually be ignited in the exhaust, this is what gives top fuel cars their characteristic flaming exhaust.
Your biggest problem by far will be engine strength, cheap pocket bikes will be running very cheap low quality engines that will be unable to withstand the extra forces and higher temperatures a nos install induces. Using any significant amout of NO will simply cause them to explode. Mods to strengthen the engine would be possible but will require custom work from a trained machinist, this will not be cheap. You’ve also got to find a location for a nos bottle (and a standard 15lb car bottle is bigger than a pocket bike), two solenoids, another fuel pump, suitable arm/fire switches, a low fuel/oil pressure cutoff and work out how to insert the nozzle(s) in to the inlet manifold suitably. In short, if you have a full workshop and were a skilled and experienced car modder maybe, in reality no.
NOS kits are common for pocket bikes and are comercially available.they are made for motobikes too.
Ah well if you can get the stuff ready made then that makes it a lot easier. Do you have any links to vendors or any idea how much power boost they claim to give? I was aware through the drag racing scene that there are kits avaiable for bikes, but they usually hang the can off the side in a way that you couldn’t on a pocket bike.
Of course if you can buy the kits easily then you are unlikley to make money by buying a pocket bike and fitting a kit, anyone could do it.
