i’m only a freshman in high school but i want to be a surgeon (no joke)
I just finished my first year of university. I’m not completely certain what I want to major in (although I am leaning towards English). I don’t know what kind of career/job I’m going to get at the end of it all. I’m not sure if I’ll stop after my Bachelor’s or if I’ll go on to get my Master’s or PhD.
When I’m done educating myself formally, though, I want to do some travelling; one of those long find yourself trips, after which I will come to the realization that I didn’t need to go on a long trip to find myself because I was there all along.
Hopefully I’ll meet some interesting people and encounter some things I wasn’t expecting. Life has a strange way of working out like that.
I am a junior (two weeks till schools out then I am a senior) .Once school starts I am going to try and finish a semester early because I detest high school. I want to get my general studies at a local community collage then transfer to a collage that has my major (Art Therapy). I am praying for an amazing score on the ACT though because all the collages in the south that offer my major are private and I am not rich. I am also trying to find a job that does not consist of flipping burgers, or watching kids.
I’m graduating in a month with an IB diploma under my belt (well hopefully - IB tests started today :x), and will be attending Texas A&M University with the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2012. Right now my chosen major is Computer Science, mostly because I know I want to work with computing languages, but not sure in what capacity. I do have a dream job, though, of working in the video game industry, and I’m planning on supplementing my programming courses with some art courses to be more versatile if I ever get a chance to end up in that field.
Before anyone lectures me on this, yes I realize that that sort of career isn’t a “fun and games” line of work like many people believe. I’m not just someone who likes video games. I have a strong interest in the theory behind computer science as it relates to math and physics, and AI interests me as well, though I’m fairly ignorant about it right now. I would absolutely love being able to apply these interests into a career that I could use to entertain millions of people.
With that in mind, I’m considering (only as a distant possibility right now, of course) Carnegie Mellon University for grad school, in the school of Entertainment Technology. We’ll see how that pans out after a few years at A&M.
I’m way excited to leave high school, though.
hmm… i left college here and fluffed about Radio Announcing and doing stand-up for a year. Now i am heading to University! someone has to up the state grade average
i want to go to a pre-law program for my undergrad, then once i compleate that i hope to join the peace corps for a year or two, before returning to school to get a law degree. Once i do that i want to either A)practice law with the ACLU or B)go into politics
I’ll be doing both, and having fun along the way. A lack of a career doesn’t mean a lack of hard work. It just means I don’t want to settle down and choose one job so early on in life.
I will hope to get an apprenteship with the local auto shop and then join the U.S.M.C.
I’m a freshman in hs and have no clue what I would like to do. I’ve got no real interests. I guess the small chance of becoming a famous unicyclist in 1o years or so is still there, unicycling will blow up someday. My father says I’ll be going to college, but unless he pays for it he doesn’t have much of a say. I really don’t want to take huge loans out so he can live his dreams though me.
I I’ll start taking a picture of myself and putting that with a journal I write every single day. After 15 years I’ll get it published and be a famous man. That would actually be really cool, I could be wealthy by 15 then travel the world. Yeah, thats want I wanna do, I can also pick up a staving african child on my way. That upps the fame factor right?
nope, that is illegal.
Arrest Angelia Jolie, SHE’S GOT TWO!
uWell, when I was in highschool, I just wanted to take a year long break after graduating, and thats what I am doing.
Im working, unicycling, and just being very active and having fun. My year is almost up though.
For college I am taking an audio technology class. After college it would be cool to open up a studio, but most likely ill just have my own studio from all the equipment ill gradually be buying. Ive already got my DAW setup and so far have some mics, recently bought another condenser mic, a mic Pre, and ill slowly be upgrading to more and bigger things.
I just know I want to be able to record my music at a high quality level and expand that to other musicians and bands.
But really I dont know what I want to do after college. Eventually I know I want to have a house down in Oregon, have a loving wife, and kids will come later. Job wise, travel wise, and some other things, I dont know, but its going to be fun and worth it.
But she did not just go “pick them up”
She shouldn’t be allowed any children, her house is dangerous. I’ve seen Tomb Raider.
Would someone please add this quotation to their signature?
Am I the only one here that can spell apprenticeship?
I have one as a Quantity Surveyor, and I’m gonna do that after my french art and photography A levels (two years).
nope.
No. Can you spell college?
Awesome, Dude! Good luck. Software development can be incredibly rewarding. It can be incredible fun. It can also be boring and tedious. All depends on the day of the week. If you love it, then even the boring stuff can be pleasant. It’s great for the mind. Also, which software is going to be more fun to design, develop, and test? Bank software or video games? That’s right! So go for it.
programming is art ! So it is a good idea to supplement programming with another art.
when you write “with computing language” do you mean “using languages” or/ and work “on computing languages”? (I have been a language implementor and it’s fun … never programmed serious games … but could be fun too).
unicycling is a good antidote to hackerdom!
I’m off to do art! YAY! I leave school in 3 weeks. HORRAY!
I want to go into comics or character design.
or concept art…
i’m not sure what but it’ll be awesome!
