the captain who walked down the stairs at the end, that was indeed the guys’ dad from the flying dutchman crew, correct? how did he turn into a human again?
no, you fool! that was the original captain of the black pearl in the beginning of the first movie. the woman who gives jack the jar of sand said in the end that now that jack is gone they need a captain who knows the waters to help ressurect jack, so they get the original captain. the enslaved father guy is still a freak and will probably be freed in the 3rd movie.

Uhh, no, not quite. That was Captain Barbossa from Curse of the Black Pearl. You can tell it’s him because he bites into an apple and Jack the monkey hops on his shoulder. It would make sense that a guy like that who had been searching the oceans for gold medallions for ten years would know about a lot of ocean, so he would be the perfect captain for their big quest.
EDIT: Wow, I am slow. Well, at least that last sentence up there is different.

i must have been too distracted with my ‘oh, that’s why it’s called the Fryin’ Dutchman!!’ going through my mind the whole movie!
but didn’t captain barbossa die in the first movie? so i don’t get why he is back!
Ah! But! He only got shot in the last movie. Just because you see him bleed loads, then drop his apple (where did that come from anyway?), doesn’t mean he’s dead.
Plus imagine this scenario: Barbossa lays dying. He slowly clambers to the cursed gold, grabs a piece, becomes undead again, and the bullet hole ceases to be effective. He puts the gold back with a bit of his blood and voila! A whole man again!
[more likely, it wasn’t a fatal wound]
i’d seen the first one a while ago, then saw that one, at the very end i was like who the f is he :S. then somebody told me i was like ohhhhhhh, i still dont get it. 
I thought it was the guy’s father from the Flying Duchman, too. Is it the same actor? They look the same.
Maybe it was bad casting that they looked so similar.
Yeah it crossed my mind that Bootstrap Bill looked alot like Barbosa, but it must be down to bad casting. Though maybe without all the intense make-up, the actor who plays Bootstrap looks a lot different from Geoffery Rush.
i only figured out then that those two looked alike, but i know for a fact that they are the same character.
People, The monkey took a piece of gold from the chest, after the credits of the first one, that explains why he is still alive.
Person, that explains why the monkey is un-dead, not why or how Barbosa is now alive.
I think Samia is on to something. Place your bets now, we’ll find when III - “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End” comes out.
They were at the voodoo lady’s house which means anything can happen. If they plan on getting Johnny Depp back in the next movie they could have just as easily gotten him back. It’ll be explained in the third as has been stated a couple times. I don’t think Bootstrap and Barbosa are the same though. Barbosa talks about Bootstrap in the last movie doesn’t he? And if you look at them they aren’t that a like. Plus getting bootstrap back will mean a whole other sideplot for the next movie.
