On Feb 26, 2003, realizing that “UncleIcy” is an anagram of unicycle, I went to register this name for myself. (Not, of course, that I need more than one name, I just wanted this one). Wouldn’t you know it, you had done it just days before. IcyUncle just doesn’t do it.
It is not unknown for people to sell Slashdot accounts, even Seti@Home accounts for cash. Maybe a true measure of the increasing popularity of unicycling is when the first unicyclist.com login is traded for financial gain.
Which raises the question… what purpose did you intend for your trophy name? A fresh start? A separate account for witty anecdotes without tarnishing your good name? Or simply to say “I have this”?
On the internet, reputation is everything, and your reputation revolves around the name you choose to use. Who can tell the consequences of changing names…
