Jethro,
What ever happened to the fellow that you talked about in THIS THREAD. It came to my mind last night before I went to sleep and would love to hear of what happened to this fellow. It’s kind of like wanting to hear the ending of a heartwarming novel.
The story is not as good as it could be, but also not as bad as it could be.
Dale has faced lots of struggles. He was able to find employment, which was good. He got housing through the reservation. That wasn’t good. I will explain. Because generous Minnesotans give the Native Americans millions of dollars through casinos, Native Americans can provide lots of low cost housing for their people. So Dale was able to get housing fairly easily. Unfortunately, if you are struggling to stay off drugs, Native American housing is about the worse place to be. He quickly got into drugs again, then just as quickly made a decision that being homeless was better than being on drugs. So he left and found temporary housing through Christian missions.
We talk every couple of weeks. The last time we talked was Sunday before last. He was planning on leaving for his reservation in Northern Minnesota, closer to where his kids were. His kids were placed in Foster homes when he went to prison. He said he would call we he was settled.
It’s good to hear he is making progress, and I hope he can be reunited with his kids soon, I’ll keep him in my thoughts. Next time you see him, let him know that there are people out there that don’t even know him that want so very much to see him succeed.
