I’ve been interested in taking my uni to ski resorts here. I’m wondering how much trouble it was to convince the resort to allow you to take it.

It is truly a privelage to ride on ski area’s, most do not allow it. You will need to have a “runaway strap” of some sort, that will help your chances. Do it first thing in the morning, before the crowds. Then get off the mountain. Don’t be a clown, ride to the side. Make sure you thank them afterwards. A nice bottle of wine or sixer of good beer increases your chances of being allowed back.

Did you ‘know someone’? Is this a resort that does lift-access mountain biking in the summer?

Yes, I do. I am very fortunate at Aspen Highlands where I ride around here, I have been a ski patroller here for over 25 years.
You need to go right to the Mountain Manager, and ask him/her. Be polite, this is such a awesome thing to be able to do, that as unicyclists we cannot have attitudes. Don’t be suprised if they say NO.

Great pictures…freshly groomed snow seems like it would be perfect. Any attempts on the moguls?

Yes, we ride all of it, if the snow quality is good. Firm base with 10 -20 cm of powder on top is sweeeeet. Breakable or too soft is just not rideable. A bit of advice, going downhill on snow is a blast, and you might bend your fun meter:) AND you might not be able to go down stairs the next day, careful how much you do. Good luck!
