Two of my friends and I decided to go camping in the snow last weekend. It snowed quite a lot and we ended up hiking about 4 miles on the mountainous trail to get to a shelter. We camped/hiked around Mcaffe’s Knob near Roanoke Virginia. It was extremely cold and snowed the entire night…so we stayed by the fire most of the time and at night we ran to our sleeping bags. I was pretty cold most of the time in my sleeping bag but I managed. The winds were extremely loud at night as well. In the morning we had to trudge through drifts of snow that went past our knees for about half a mile till we got to higher ground. Four miles in deep snow really wears you out. On the way back down the mountain we also stopped to take a couple pictures of the great view from the top of the mountain. I have never done anything like this before, but the cold was definitely worth the fun I had. Anyway, I just wanted to share some of the pictures I took from the trip.
