Kris,

Hey that seat looks nice. I can’t wait to try one. So when exactly is “coming soon”? Fall? 2002? Spring 2003? Ballpark?

Lewis

Elegant. Will several colors be available?

OK Kris I’m sold, but when?

My son has the Velo VL-7021 Ejector Seat on his BMX and it sure is well made.

Cheers, Gary

Kris,

amazing! simply amazing! the new velo seat that is…and everything else. i still cant believe you said it will cost about as much as a normal miyata. when they come out ill have to buy one. cant wait.

Kyle

here is a direct link: http://danger_uni.unicyclist.com/myuni.html

Will tall people such as myself, be able to get it with a 400mm seat post? I dont need it for muni, but on a twenty inch trails, 300mm is not quite enough.
demanding anwers here and now!
dan

That seat looks like sweet!
Topic change:
A while back there was a thread about ISIS cranks. I believe you (Kris) mentioned a mid range crank set with more details to come later. Will this crank set be a part of the new uni (I think we neeed a code name for it, anyone?) or is it a seperate project?
Any more details?

Re: picture of new Velo Seat

Absolutely incredible, I can’t wait to get a hold of one!

-Dylan

Sign me up!

I like the hybrid viscount-myata look. Very tidy.

Does it come with a built-in rail adapter [so we can use “real seatposts”]?

Do well all get one with our name on it too?

richard.

PS. if anyone is having problem gettings kris’ URL going through a squid2.4 [or similar] proxy - try http://danger-uni.unicyclist.com [what a naughty, thing having a “_” in there…]

Hard to say, but likely before UNICON at the end of July.

Probably just the one color, to keep it simple.

How are the holes going to be drilled? Are we going to be able to tilt the seat, or have to ride them flat, like the Miyatas?

Right now it’s like a Viscount- you’ve got a bit of angle adjustment by sliding the seatpost plate
back and forth. So if you’ve got a Viscount (or Shwinn, Semcycle etc) seat, you’ll just take off
your old seat and install the Velo on the existing post.

This isn’t ideal, but will have to do for now until I can get a Wilder rails bracket made that
fits the seat. Ultimately I’d like to see it come standard with a Wilder bracket, but I want to
look into patenting the bracket before I do this. Does anyone out there have experience with the
patent process?

It’s amazing how much work and time it takes to produce this stuff!

Kris,

Under UK patent law once a design is in the public domain you cannot patent the invention (my experience is limited to lectures from the patent office organised by my company). I believe the wording is similar in all other countries.

More importantly the cost in gaining a watertight patent can be an expensive process. Incorrect wording will let any other company make virtually identical designs without infinging your patent.

Glad to hear there is another choice of seat coming to market.

Re: picture of new Velo Seat

Based on a number of conversations today, it looks like it would be a complete waste of money to
go through with any patent application. That’s OK- I’ll still see what I can do to get the
Wilder bracket sold standard on the Velo seat. Might take a while, though. In the meanwhile, the
separate unit should be available at some point through Unicycle.com.

new KH seat

the minute they are available,i am ordering two! im also thinking that i will just re-drill two holes in the wilder adapter that i have.this sould work in the mean-time.

Re: picture of new Velo Seat

when you said it was gonna be available in bike shops and through
unicycle.com. does that mean there is gonna be a push to get US bike
shops to carry the seat? or is it going to be like most items are now,
where some bike shops can order it, but mostly its unicycle.com to the
resque?

Bike shops aren’t going to stock them, I bet. They neeed to clear their goods, to get new stuff on the floor. If nobody shows unicycle interest, that shop is only going to order them on an individual basis. I bet Unicycle.com will get 99% of the orders for that seat…including 2 from me
