Photos and Vids From March Unimeet

Finally found a PC whoes OS doesn’t run away and hide when faced with downloading images to the Forum Gallery. Posted some of the photos and vids taken during the Unihoc games played at the Kidderminster Unimeet in March.

(Horrible yellow colour was best I could reduce the cast caused by cheap flourecent tubes in a hall with green walls)

Noel,

I played hocky for about a year, and had never seen the draw to Uni Hocky- untill now. Thanx for posting the vid’s. You all are obviously having outragous amounts of fun! Which bloke is you, by the way?

Christopher

I’m the guy hiding behind the camera using it as an excuse not to join in and let everyone find out that my flatland skills are nowhere near as good as the people in front of the camera.

Re: Photos and Vids From March Unimeet

Thank you for capturing the almost competent way in which I stole
what should have been Roger’s goal (aab.mpg).

Arnold the Aardvark

Arnold,

Rodger was all flash and speed- YOU were the guy who diligently waited on the moment and acted without hesitation. At least, that’s the story I would tell at the Pub.

Re: Photos and Vids From March Unimeet

Noel,

It is really hard to take photos in that hall, the dust makes a mess of most
of my photos.

Love the photo (no1) of Trev poised to move, really dynamic. Pity it is not
more in clearer. Also nice shot of Sarah in the background.

The Videos are great. Nice to see me on film… I really do get in the way
don’t I! Also wish I could shoot :frowning:

Re: Photos and Vids From March Unimeet

Christopher,

It’s true! (except for the bit about me) on one game Alan scored 6 goals in
a row, he is definitely good at the diligently waiting and then “bang” he is
in with a shot. Lots of skill there.
These games are great fun and a regular at the uni-meets, they have really
expanded the interest in hockey in the UK and means we might actually have
team that have played together at least once by the time we come to unicon
this year… well except Neil. He is our secret weapon, so secret we don’t
even know!

I think it’s safe to say that even I don’t know yet. I’m sure I’ll have
figured out which end of the stick to hold but more than that I cannot say

Brilliant videos. Thanks for posting them Noel. They are my first glimpse of
a game in action. It looks like more fun than you could shake a stick at -
keeping it below the waste line of course.

Be careful with that mutual appreciation, Rog, or
we’ll start to sound like Americans ;-).

I shouldn’t worry overmuch about this. I know someone who played
unicycle hockey before he could even ride a unicycle. I won’t say the
game turned on his contribution, but I think he did touch the ball a few
times :-).

We’ve had non-riders (not-yet-riders) to figure as goalies. The goal
was made of wood fixed to a brick wall (in a gym) so they could stay
on the unicycle which is of course a prerequisite to play unicycle
hockey.
