Philadelphia Unicyclers in Pennsylvania

I was just wondering if there was anyone in the area around me that unicycles. It seems that I am the only unicycler in Willow Grove, PA. Willow Grove is not too far from Philly. Post if you are nearby! Thanks!

Post if you live in Pennsylvania, or even nearby! I love to muni and I do it all the time in fairmount park.

I was visiting relatives in Newark, DE last weekend and rode at White Clay and Middle Run parks. Both parks which are connected to each other have nice trails. There is a fun skills course at White Clay with lots of elevated board skinnies, ramps and teter toters. It is worth checking out if you are in the area.

Thanks for the recommendations. I would love to get out there to try new trails. Ultimately, I would love to get a group of unicyclers together to ride trails and such. If you guys have anything to say, shoot it out!

I’m fairly close to the Jenkintown train station. Rode down in Philly today for the first time (on-street riding).

Oh man, Jenkintown is very close to me. I’m only about 15 minutes away. What kind of riding do you do? I mountain unicycle all the time and ride around my neighborhood.

I’ve only been riding for 3 months or so. So far, lots of commuting back and forth to the SEPTA station - and one day I went out on the Valley Forge trail but only for 3 miles. I could probably do 5 now, maybe 10, on my cheap 29er.

I also ride a 24" (mostly while practicing now). I was a skater a couple of decades ago, and I’d like to learn some flatland/street uni - as long as my body lets me!

I’m very interested in doing muni (used to mountain bike through Wissahickon a lot), but I’m still too green. I look forward to the day I taco my cheap unis and have to upgrade

Screw that. I just took my 24" out for a quick spin, encouraged by thinking about street/flatland/muni, and had an awesome 2.5 miles of practice. From the way that felt, I could easily pull 10 miles on the 29er on flat land, and I’m up for a few miles of some light muni on the 24.

My schedule’s terrible: on August 11th my two unis get packed to ship to Burning Man, and they won’t be back here until mid-September. I don’t really have time before then. I’m up for some muni after they return, though.

That’s great! Glad you’re improving by the second. When I muni, I ride over at Valley Green which is along the Wissahickon Creek. The park system has tons of rideable trails that are quite enjoyable. I’ve been riding since last August. First uni I bought was a cheap one off of ebay, but recently this Christmas I got a Nimbus Mountain Unicycle. You know, the cheapest muni’s on unicycle.com. I love it though, great times.
