I do.
But how many of the people on dial-up have a DVD-ROM drive?
The format of the DVD would be a data disk with individual files for each video. It wouldn’t be the kind of DVD you can play on the TV.

stunning idea
can i stick my addy on the list?
how will i repay your postage?
The original idea I had was to send a DVD out full of video files and have it wander around from person to person via postal mail. It was just an idea that struck me right then as I was reading this thread. Sending it international would get more expensive for those in the loop.
It looks like mailing two DVDs to South Africa wouldn’t be too bad. The US Postal Service web site says it would be about $4 (US) as long as I kept the weight down by not shipping the DVD cases. I’m not sure about customs, but I don’t think that would be a problem because the value is basically nothing other than the cost of the DVD blanks.
We’ll have to see what the demand is for such a mailing.
i’m definately in
i’m happy to carry the cost of the mailing to whoever is next on the list
and $4 is about R20, which i’m happy to add to the envelope as it makes it’s way back to u
do u want to start a new thread over at RSU so we can get a mailing list together?
(if i recall from Klaas’s stats, your thread-starting count was a bit low…
)
I like the DVD idea.
It would be good to have them labelled in a tidy way, listing the riding style, rider, and length or something along those lines. Also, maybe if this is happening we should make a list of links to videos (continue that existing thread) so we have as many as possible and also the higher res versions (as long as the files aren’t too huge).
Andrew
Well, i think there should be a little more thoight put into some of the videos, with an actual idea, lots of material and alot of time editing it.
if i would make a video, i would at least take a weeks time to do it, because i would want it good, not as a show of in riding skill, but as practice in video-making…
The dvd idea would be really nice, but what would it cost to ship a dvd around the world like that?
Edit: And i would like to have the dvd in some format where you can watch it on your tv without having divXcodec in your dvd…
I too have a ridiculously fast connection, and the longest I ever waited for a download was 20 minutes for a 325 meg file so waiting is not an issue. I spike at 350 K/sec on occasion. I like watching videos. Here’s a few selected reasons.
1)I get to wish I could ride seat-out
2)I get to wish I could grind.
3)I get to wish I could jump more than a foot up.
4)I like street/trails and it helps me aspire to become a better one myself.
I also can’t edit. So any attempt is better than mine automatically. I would rather have relevance in the video though. Make it unicycle related. In “Unicycle Therapy” when the one guy puts the money in the meter and hangs the uni up on it–that was funny. It was a comedic break in an otherwise unicycle porno. Not that uni-porn is bad.
Just keep the videos relevant. That’s all.
here is a little hint for TheoELind who is only apologizing because he just realized that people are not happy with him…DONT MAKE A THREAD IN A BAD MOOD ITS NOT WORTH IT
p.s this is constructive criticism
