pedals and saddles

I’m just getting back after a looong hiatus. I’m working with a 25 year old 24" very basic cycle. It has a symmetrical seat (I can’t tell front from back) that’s got very poor padding. Any recommendations for a decent seat upgrade?

Also, I constantly feel that my feet are too big for the pedals (I’m a size 13 wide), and it is difficlult to stay connected (gripped) to the pedals. What size/type pedals should I be using???

I’m comfortably riding about 2 miles, my biggest issues are the seat and pedals. I ride exclusively on pavement and don’t have much interest in offroad yet.

How much money do you want to spend on this unicycle? It might be more economical to just buy a whole new starter.

You would probably have to get a new seatpost with the new saddle.

Good points. If I have get a new post, then it may not be worth it. Would a new “starter” have a decent seat, or would I be back to square one?

A nimbus club unicycle is a very good starter if you are not willing to spend over $200. The seats on them feel luxurious compared to some of the “classic” saddles. However, they are still not the best seats out there. The unicycle itself is actually pretty solid as well. Check it out: http://www.unicycle.com/unicycles/bymanufacturer/club/
(any of them are good, just pick a color and size)

Also, you may wish to buy better pedals with that. These have a lot of room and people love them. And they are only $10: http://www.unicycle.com/unicycle-hardware/pedals/odyssey-twisted-pc-pedals-9-16-inch.html/

Thanks. I’m gonna call and speak to the people at unicycle.com about my options. Don’t want to put too much into this one. I’m probably going to buy a new 29 in the near future, but also want to upgrade my old 24 a bit. Just have to prioritize… Too many choices!! Those pedals look perfect and are a great deal. Thanks!
