Pectus Excavatum

I officially have Pectus Excavatum.

Anybody else have this? Mine is nowhere near as bad as the picture in wikipedia…
Yes it looks wierd, people do ask me questions all the time, say if I go swimming, but I am not bothered by it in the slightest. And it doesn’t affect my riding in anyway, nor my breathing.
feel free to discuss

Aw, I was expecting a discussion about a Harry Potter spell.

Lol… not quite like that

Why? I am not bothered by it, and it makes great suicidal-emo-self-stabbing drama acts lol;)

I know a kid at school with this, his was almost as bad as in the picture. But he got a brace or something and it isn’t as bad as it was like 3 years ago.

well I say no where near as bad, mine is not too far off of it. I have the option to have surgery, but since it does not affect my performance in anyway, I do not see why I should

My friend has it. It’s never really seemed like that big of a deal to me I guess. I never really knew what it was or researched it before. I always just thought it was something different.
He’s never really said anything about it or anything though.

Oh cool, I just decided to look into it. I know that some people get extremely paranoid about having it, but I don’t see the problem, It’s just different that’s all. I must admit though, I do avoid not wearing shirts sometimes, when I cant be bothered to explain the whole thing

lol, see, if anything, my chest has advantages :stuck_out_tongue:

You could get a cool Iron Man glowing generator in there.

Is that Latin for “incredibly annoying forum signature”?

I have the cure. It’s called “the backspace key”. PM me if you need help finding it.

You probably don’t realize it, but that’s a condescending way to respond to someone with any sort of medical condition. Think about it.

I have known several people with that. I did not know what the official name was though. I used to work with a woman whose son had surgery at about age 20 to insert a metal bar in his chest. Over time, the bar pushed his chest wall out to a more normal position. Before the surgery, he could feel his heart beat against the inside of his chest wall. The whole process took about 2 years during which time he had the metal bar inside him.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Pretty sweet chest thingy you got thur.

My good friend has Pectus Carinatum, which is the opposite of what you’ve got. It’s not visible when he’s relaxed, but when he takes a deep breath in it’s like he has a boob. He actually enjoys freaking people out with it.

Check out what I have here.

I’ve got quite a few chronic diseases and problems. By age 10, I had already had 5-6 surgeries. Now I’m up to 7-8. I don’t mind it, though. They will usually get me out of school for at least a couple days.

I work with a dude who has that. I wondered what it was. I thought he got hit with something.

Is his sticking out or pushed in?

Pushed in really far.

I have that, mine’s at least a few inches deep at the center actually. It’s never really been a problem, doctors have said it’s purely cosmetic, and the surgery to ‘fix’ it would be outrageously expensive. I don’t mind it too much, it’s mildly embarrassing to be shirtless but it’s not too big a deal.

I had an aquantance in primary school with it, it wasn’t like the one in the picture which looked like a cone shaped cavity, his cavity was a dome shape.

Lol, whoops, don’t know why I still have that, Considering I know have the frame. I shall remove it now…

That is awesome! I am so badly giving that a try:D

I’m not offended, don’t worry about it, yeah, mine isn’t that serious
