for freestyle/trails are shins pads a must? and if they are then what kinda should i get? I see people uni pics with people wearing “sixsixone” shin pads and i like those, where would i find some?
I got mine from here. I don’t wear them any more though, not because I’m trying to be macho, but because they get too hot and the strap on the right one rubs on the back of my leg. Ruined shins are much more fun!
I would say for street, yes I would be wearing them.
I use Krusher pads, which I have no clue where you can buy them besides my local bike shop. They’re a bit more costly than most pads, but they protect your ankles and are very soft and flexible. No knee pads on them…
hello, i only recently bought some sixsixones of unicycledotcom yet have not had a chance to use them i rode briefly with them on saturday and i can say that they fuel confidence to no end, i was dropping and gapping without fear and managed to land a few 180 unispins. it was nice, now all i need is a ridable uni, one that pedals propely so that i dont have to jump everywhere.
They aren’t a must unless you want to walk again.
I would reccomend UDC cause you get the awsome bumper sticker with it!
id get some race face http://www.raceface.com/apparel/protection/rallydh.htm
For freestyle, you will take some falls, but because you generally use plastic pedals and can usually step off when they fall. No pads are really needed for this, but you could still use them.
For trails, definetly have some, because of the forward momentum you have when riding on a lot of trails, your falls will usually have you end up in a superman position flying down the trail, then crashing pretty hard.
Shin/knee guards are good to protect from pedal bites, rocks, and knee impacts. Helmets of course, and a lot of people wear wrist and elbow protection now for obvious reasons.
