PA Muni Welcoming Events- May 2014

Western PA is incredibly unicyclist friendly. We’ve got 2 events coming up after (hopefully) we thaw out:

  1. 6 Hours of Brady’s Run- May 10th: Last year’s course was 8-9mi laps with a fair amount of climbing and descending. There are Uni Solo and Uni Duo classes ($25/$50)! The course is excellent and this is an incredibly well run event. Registration opens Feb. 1. https://www.bikereg.com/Net/6-hours-of-bradys-run

If you want to make the trip and need a place to stay, that can be arranged without a problem.

  1. Dirt Rag’s Dirt Fest- May 16th-18th: This takes place at Raystown Lake in central PA. We’ve had a crew of unicyclists there every year. This is the 3rd year we’ll have a uni demo workshop, and the second year for an official muni group ride. If you want to join our camping crew, register under the Group Camping option and “Butler Wobble” for the group name. Saying this is an amazing event is an understatement. http://www.dirtragdirtfest.com/

Both of these events are centered around biking. However, both WELCOME unicyclists, not just tolerate us. By joining already established events with good backing budgets, we get a chance to enjoy a level of event impossible to pull off with a small number of registrants and low registration fees.

It’s a total win for us. We hope you’ll join us for one or both of these fun weekends!

Bump.

It seems like there has been a lot of interest in events to the North (NY) and South (VA). Just reminding people PA has some pretty good riding too.

We have a lot more happening around here uni wise than just these 2 weekends. If you like to race, there’s also a uni class in the Fat Tire Challenge as well- this year on June 21st.

If you don’t want to race you should DEFINITELY consider Dirt Fest. It’s too much fun to miss no matter the number of wheels you choose to ride.

I’ve added these to my calendar for something to think about. :sunglasses:

The 6 Hours of Brady’s Run is a week from today.

Currently, 8 muni riders are registered! A bunch of Wobblers and two Virginians.

I’m likely going too, so that will make 9. I probably won’t register until mid-week.

Anyone else?

We’ve got more than 8 munis at Dirt Fest the next weekend too. On-site camping is closed for that event, but at last check there were some sites available at nearby campgrounds that Dirt Fest has a free shuttle service too.

Both events will be awesome.
